When deals aren’t closing, there are really only two levers: increase the conversion percentage, or increase the volume going in. They feel like the same problem but they’re not, and you can waste months optimizing the wrong one. Before you touch your pitch or your process, get honest about which number is actually broken.
For most pipelines that are starved, the bottleneck is volume, not conversion. Quality of opportunities is the follow-on thing, you can’t tune the close rate on a pipeline that’s empty. Get the count up first, then sharpen.
When something isn’t converting, how do you tell whether the problem is the funnel or the front door?
