I dream optimistically, and for a long time I treated that as a bug. Now I think it has a use if you run it in a specific direction. Throw a spark into this reality, some hypothetical version of things, and treat it as one branch of a multiverse. The further out from now, the more permutations exist, so out there almost anything is possible.
The trick is I think of the multiverse in reverse. Instead of predicting forward, I start from the imagined reality and ask: if that were true, what would have to be true for it? And does that path even align with where I’m actually trying to go?
That turns dreaming from noise into a tool. The wild possibility is just the starting boundary. The work is tracing back from it and refining the detail as you get closer to the present, where it actually has to render.
