A conversation starter is a better unit than a headline.
At least for this.
A headline tries to win attention.
A conversation starter tries to create an opening.
Those are different instincts.
The headline asks:
Will someone click?
The conversation starter asks:
Would the right person know what to ask next?
That is closer to the thing I want.
I do not want every note to sound like a finished position.
I want it to feel like a doorway into the thinking.
This changes how I judge the note.
Not:
Is this the sharpest possible sentence?
More:
Does this make the next good conversation easier?
