It is harder to make the thought answer to reality.
Proof projects help.
A proof project is where an idea has to become useful somewhere.
Not universally useful.
Not finished.
Not impressive in the abstract.
Useful enough to change how something works.
That changes the posture of writing.
The public note is not trying to win belief on its own.
It points back to the work.
The work points back to the idea.
Both can get sharper because they have to stay in contact.
That is the difference I care about.
Proof of thought and proof of work should reinforce each other.
The thinking gives the project a clearer intention.
The project gives the thinking a harder test.
That makes it harder to fake.
