A field note should be small enough to survive a reply.
That feels like a useful constraint.
If the thought needs three paragraphs of setup before anyone can touch it, it may still be useful, but it is probably not a field note yet.
The note can point to depth.
It can carry provenance.
It can link to adjacent routes.
But the thought itself should be easy to pick up.
Small enough to quote.
Small enough to question.
Small enough for someone to say, yes, and.
