A field note should help a future reader find the live question.
Not just the conclusion.
Not just the polished line.
The question.
The part that was still moving.
That is often where the useful signal is.
If someone arrives later, they should be able to see what the note was trying to work out.
Then they can decide whether that question is still alive for them too.
