A field note should keep one claim and one question together.
The claim gives it a spine.
The question keeps it alive.
If there are too many claims, the note becomes an essay trying to escape.
If there is no question, the note starts pretending to be finished.
That is the useful size:
one thing that feels true enough to say,
and one opening that keeps the conversation honest.
